Australian based designer and artist Ambah O’Brien is coming to SoCal! Ambah’s use of color and geometric lines create one of a kind pieces which are both beautiful and so much fun to wear.
Come meet Ambah and try on her absolutely gorgeous designs during this single evening special event, Friday, January 18 from 6-8pm at the Altered Stitch in Studio City!
OK guys! It is finally here. The much anticipated Stitches So Cal starts this Thursday in Pasadena. There are a wide range of fiber-oriented classes, demos, events and vendors just waiting for us! I always go to Stitches West with my sister in law, it is an annual tradition. But why drive all the way to San Jose? I need to make my shopping list and a serious game plan...
Click here for a downloadable program with a list of events and vendors.
Stitches So Cal is launching in Pasadena for the first time on Nov 1! Classes, demos, book signings and so much great shopping! Knitting, crochet, embroidery and sewing. These are some of the great companies that will be represented at the Marketplace, but if you want a complete listing there is one available here. So sign up for a class, plan your route, and come ready to support your favorite dyers and designers!
Attention all knitting, yarn, fiber, weaving and textile art enthusiasts! Join our neighbors to the south later this month for the 6th annual San Diego Yarn Crawl, September 13-16, 2018! This free, self-paced, self-guided tour of 10 San Diego yarn stores, 2 alpaca farms, and 1 mobile Yarn truck will take crawlers from San Marcos to Chula Vista, Ramona to Encinitas and many points in-between! The adventure runs Thursday through Sunday. The SDYC web site provides a free passport and a google map for you to print out. Special edition cloth tote bags are available at many of the participating locations for a nominal fee during the SDYC.
Prepare for a very unique experience: get back to the “country” environment and experience two actual San Diego county alpaca ranches, one with a mill that makes yarn. Since you will be visiting the “country” environment, be sure to wear comfortable shoes. This is the first west coast yarn crawl to invite local alpaca farms to participate. During your tour you can shop at the 13 locations for a variety of yarns, needles & accessories. Each location will have it’s own special events, designers, etc. Crawlers will print out their own yarn crawl passport from the SDYC website, and have it stamped at every store or farm they visit! All passports bearing 3 venue stamps turned in at any of the 13 locations will be entered to win gift baskets filled with all kinds of yarn and fiber goodies. In addition, those with passports stamped by all 13 locations will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from each location! That’s $650 worth of gift certificates going to the grand prize winner!
The LA County Fair is open now through September 23rd!
The fair has something for everyone; animals, rides, games, food, and displays of the best Los Angelinos have to offer, from crafts to art to collections.
We will be manning the knitting demonstration booth Saturday and Sunday from now until the end of the fair, in the pavilion displaying all of the amazing fiber art entered in the fair.

Summer is coming to a close and everyone is having a sale. It is a good time to think ahead to your holiday knitting and stock up on supplies. I will try and get as many as I can posted here. Beginning today with Creative Ewe in Santa Clarita.
"[They are] celebrating with special discounts for all of our fiber friends! Through August 31st, you can take 20% off any Creative Ewe yarn with code: EWE20 or 10% off all other products with code: EWE10. These codes apply only to regular-priced merchandise."
Guys. There is so much cool stuff happening out there. Fiber events, craft fairs, yarn sales. Who can keep track?
From time to time I will be posting, here in the blog, about these cool opportunities. These events are not necessarily Knerdy Knitter official events or endorsements. Just things I've run across.
Check back from time to time and see what's going on!
Here's to a New Year of friendship, growing our skills, having fun and finishing fabulous finished projects!
