Attention all knitting, yarn, fiber, weaving and textile art enthusiasts! Join our neighbors to the south later this month for the 6th annual San Diego Yarn Crawl, September 13-16, 2018! This free, self-paced, self-guided tour of 10 San Diego yarn stores, 2 alpaca farms, and 1 mobile Yarn truck will take crawlers from San Marcos to Chula Vista, Ramona to Encinitas and many points in-between! The adventure runs Thursday through Sunday. The SDYC web site provides a free passport and a google map for you to print out. Special edition cloth tote bags are available at many of the participating locations for a nominal fee during the SDYC.
Prepare for a very unique experience: get back to the “country” environment and experience two actual San Diego county alpaca ranches, one with a mill that makes yarn. Since you will be visiting the “country” environment, be sure to wear comfortable shoes. This is the first west coast yarn crawl to invite local alpaca farms to participate. During your tour you can shop at the 13 locations for a variety of yarns, needles & accessories. Each location will have it’s own special events, designers, etc. Crawlers will print out their own yarn crawl passport from the SDYC website, and have it stamped at every store or farm they visit! All passports bearing 3 venue stamps turned in at any of the 13 locations will be entered to win gift baskets filled with all kinds of yarn and fiber goodies. In addition, those with passports stamped by all 13 locations will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from each location! That’s $650 worth of gift certificates going to the grand prize winner!
