January/February Knit-a-long
This knit-a-long there are two projects to choose
from. Both patterns can be found on Ravelry. They both used worsted weight yarn and one skein should be enough to make 2 pairs, so make one for yourself and one to gift or try both projects!
The first pattern is the Easy Fingerless Mitts by Roxanne Richardson. This pattern is available for free and is great for a beginner knitter. This pattern uses both knits and purls. The gloves are worked flat until they are long enough to fit the hand circumference of the person they are being made for. Then the cast on and bind off edges are sewn together, leaving a gap for the thumb.
The second pattern is the honeycomb wrist warmers knit by Courtney Spainhower. This pattern is free and is a good project for an advanced beginner. The pattern is done in the round and you will make a thumb gusset. The stitches used are knit, purl, slip 1, make 1 and knit into the front and back. Use double pointed needles, or learn magic loop. If you use the magic loop method you can make two at at time. We can even show you how!
