Our 2017 Charity Project

Through the end of this calendar year, our charity knitting and crocheting project will be prosthetic breasts for women who have had mastectomies or other breast procedures, according to Charity Projects Chair Rachel Decker.

Unlike traditional breast prostheses that are usually expensive, heavy or uncomfortable to wear, these are soft, can be worn in a regular bra and adjusted for women undergoing breast reconstruction. We will be working with KnittedKnockers.org to supply the "knockers" to the women who need them.

A variety of patterns, in crochet and knitting and using methods for knitting in the round or knitting flat can be found here.

Yarn selection is important for the wearer's comfort; please use the recommended yarns.  Many of these yarns are available at local yarn stores.

Please plan to knit or crochet a pair. We are checking into whether we need to stuff them before sending them to the organization.  Put your knockers in a plastic bag, label the cup size you knit and the name and maker of the yarn you used.

Our Long Term Charity: BTAC

With simplicity and local giving in mind, we're making Burbank Temporary Aid Center the long-term recipient of our charity knitting and crocheting.  The donations coordinator welcomes our donations of warm things for the neediest folks in our community.

Thank you all for every caring stitch you put into the things you donate.
