Versatile Ribbed Cowl

Materials
:
Worsted weight yarn, approximately 600 yards or slightly more
Size 6 needles or size to obtain gauge

Gauge:
20 stitches and 26 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch using size 6 needles

Abbreviation:
K – Knit
P – Purl
Sl – slip stitch purlwise
WS – wrong side

Cowl:
Cast on 101 stitches using one of the following methods.
            1.     Long tail cast on  
                    You will need to sew cast-on and bound-off edges together to create the circular cowl at the end.  

            2.     Provisional cast on  
                    You will graft together both ends for a seamless finish to your cowl.

Set-up row (WS) 
P12, k2, p11, k2, p10, k2, p9, k2, p8, k2, p7, k2, p6, k2, p5, k2, p4, k2, p3, k2, p2, k2, p2.

Row 1
Sl first stitch, k the knit stitches and p the purl stitches.

Repeat row 1 until the piece measures approximately 34” from the beginning.

Finishing:
If you used the long tail cast on, bind off in pattern and then sew cast-on and bound-off edges together.
If you used the provisional cast on, use a grafting method to attach the two ends together for a seamless finish.
